Smile at the rich sub-culture that is Scottish lower league football.

Book

Presented to coincide with the centenary of Albion Rovers F.C. at Cliftonhill Stadium in Coatbridge, these photographs by Iain McLean show the fans and environment from a typical lower league football club.

The photographs are a small part of Iain’s ongoing social document featuring the people and environment of Albion Rovers with the pictures presented in black and white to lend them a timeless feel.

The images here were produced home and away between April 2011 and January 2018.

With the club frequently battling against the odds it is fair to say that they would not exist without the core of supporters who volunteer for all manner of jobs at the club, and this splendid old stadium brings people together from all walks of life with a common cause and on occasion can be the stage for something special.

Iain hopes these photographs inform the viewer of the rich sub-culture that is Scottish lower league football and he is sure that you will smile at least once.

More of his work and the recently published Albion Rovers photojournal – A Game of 2 Halves can be found at: www.iainmclean.com
